We are pleased to hear today that Amazon has been shortlisted in three award categories for the Retail Week Rising Stars Awards this year.

Our Bring Your Parents to Work Day initiative, aimed at giving parents a glimpse into the working lives of their children was shortlisted for the Employer Initiative of the Year award. Held in September last year, 400 parents and grandparents from across the UK and Europe visited our UK head office to learn about, and to see what their children do day to day. Parents were given the opportunity to visit an interactive tech fair showcasing our latest innovations, and the initiative helped our employees’ parents understand the significance of Amazonians and how their contribution helps drive make the company a success.

Our employee engagement for Pride London last year is also up for an Employer Initiative of the Year award.

Members of our employee affinity group glamazon organised a host of activities and events ahead of Pride, arranging for rainbow flags, bunting and banners to adorn Amazon’s London offices, and organising employee engagement events including: an afternoon rainbow cake and tea party, and a pre-Pride Party event open to all employees with performances from the winners of Pride’s Got Talent and a drag queen beauty bar. glamazon also partnered with Amazon Music – the official music sponsor for Pride in London – to create a giant radio installation in the foyer of the main London office, streaming the official Pride playlist. The finale was the Pride parade where over 140 Amazon employees, friends and family took part, either marching or celebrating on the Amazon float, with Amazon Music and on-board singers providing the soundtrack.

The Pride initiative was spearheaded by Luca Sale, co-chair of glamazon, who has himself been shortlisted for the Above and Beyond Award this year.

The winners are set to be announced on 18th July at the Brewery in London.
