The world of work is changing with employers adapting working practices to accept and celebrate more flexible working patterns. We are therefore delighted that Maria Janssen, Trend Director for Amazon Fashion, has been named on Management Today’s ‘Power Part Time List’.

Now in its sixth year, the ‘Power Part Time List’ celebrates part-time employees who reach their professional goals and challenge the stereotype that part-time work means an end to an ambitious career.

“As a mum, flexible working is a topic that I feel passionate about,” said Maria. “Amazon happily accommodated my need for a flexible working pattern which meant that I work four days a week enjoying valuable extra time with my family. Having an open dialogue with my managers about how to balance the needs of my family and my work has given me the confidence to know that working flexibly isn’t a barrier to reaching the top.”

Alison Barlow, Head of EU Diversity, said: “Maria’s role was initially advertised as a full time position but her talent, enthusiasm and experience meant we were happy to offer her the role part-time. By making her goals attainable, Maria is able to juggle both her senior role at Amazon and her more important role as a mother. It’s great to see her recognised in this way.”
