An increasing number of small businesses are looking to grow their business during the Black Friday period. In fact, new research published by YouGov today finds that 23% of small business retailers are planning to take part in Black Friday this year, compared to 14% last year. Overall, more than a third (35%) of small businesses say that Black Friday is one of their most important trading days of the year.

At Amazon, we strive to support businesses of all sizes – and particularly small businesses who play a big role in helping us serve our millions of customers by increasing selection. That’s why we’ve decided to put small businesses front and center on our amazon.co.uk site, so that millions of our customers can learn more about some of the businesses taking part in the Black Friday Sale this year.

Today, customers can discover the stories of six small British businesses via their own dedicated page and learn more about how they’ve grown their business through e-commerce.

These include, Shearer Candles, a family-run business based in Scotland who manufacture their own range of candles, candle holders and diffusers. They will be participating in Black Friday for the first time this year. Or Lavolio, founded by Lavinia Davolio who has built her business selling handcrafted, luxury Italian confectionary online, and is now about to open her first high-street store.

We believe that technology and ecommerce have a big role to play in helping small businesses such as these reach new customers around the world, and we’re thrilled to support their continued growth.
