Comedian and Strictly Come Dancing star Chris Ramsey, alongside his wife and podcaster Rosie, visited the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury with special behind the scenes access to find out how Amazon is supporting small businesses across Prime Day and beyond.

Prime Day this year returns on the 21st and 22nd June, bringing millions of deals for customers.

This year, Prime Day also includes support for the many small businesses that sell on Amazon globally. In the run-up to Prime Day, Amazon customers will receive a £10 credit to spend on Prime Day when they spend £10 with a small business.

More than half of all products sold on Amazon are from small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). In fact, between May 2019 and May 2020 independent selling partners in the UK, many of who are SMEs, sold more than 600 million products on Amazon stores – up 100 million from the previous year, and equivalent to 1,200 products sold per minute.

To find out more, Chris and Rosie followed the journey of a product sold by Dock & Bay, the colourful beachwear brand founded by Andy Jefferies which sells the majority of its goods through Amazon.

Chris and Rosie said: “Before today we had no idea that over half of the products sold on Amazon were from small and medium businesses, so it was great to meet Andy and hear more about how retailing on Amazon has positively impacted thousands of UK businesses like Dock & Bay.”

After first meeting with Andy to learn more about the business, Chris and Rosie headed to one of our fulfilment centres to see how Amazon gets products from small businesses into their customer's homes. Amazon employees guided Chris and Rosie through the fulfilment journey from picking and sorting products, to boxing, van charging and delivery.

The co-authors of Shagged. Married. Annoyed, and the smash-hit podcast of the same name, get stuck into life at a fulfilment centre before joining the delivery driver team to surprise an unsuspecting customer.

We also find out which of them does the most online shopping, and Rosie reveals Chris’s habits that really wind her up. Check out the full video below!

“As a family of four, including young boys, you wouldn’t believe how often we shop on Amazon, especially as we’ve recently moved into a new home in a rural village,” they said. “Luckily our Prime membership means we get our stuff delivered the next day – which is great. Every year we look out for Prime Day and can’t wait to have a browse on 21st and 22nd June.”
